I intend, down the years, to develop my fishkeeping into a constructive force for the benefit of the environment and the species that I keep.
I have started FFC in order to allow myself, and others who feel the same, to have an area in which to discuss techniques, developments and their own projects, as well as being an environment for people to support each other and share the benefit of their experience.
There are many ways in which fishkeeping can be used for the purposes of conservation, and no one will be judged for the method they choose.
You may decide to try to find ways to keep a species of Butterfly Fish that has been deemed impossible to keep by the hobby. The fact is these fish are still imported by irresponsible wholesalers, and whilst it should be discouraged, finding a way to keep them may lead to less deaths, and ultimately who knows.. maybe breeding?
Alternatively you may decide to try to breed a fish that has not been bred before, in order to preserve the species against possible extinction in the wild.
You may just decide to take a fish that has been bred and kept already (Victorian cichlids spring to mind), but promote the fish within the hobby to increase the numbers kept, or the quality of the bloodlines within the hobby.
And so on.. there are as many ways to help as there are species of fish!

There really will be an attitude here of nothing is taboo... as long as what you're doing is well intentioned. Some people may not agree with trying to keep the fish you are keeping, but these kinds of differences of opinion are to be handled politely at all times.

If you have any suggestions for improvements - re ordering or renaming of categories, boards etc, just let me know, I'm not an expert!
